We're constantly scouring to find new and creative ways to pay off loans or make a little extra disposable income. Here are a few sites and apps that may help:
Givling: Givling is a smartphone app-based general trivia game that's free to play (though there are options to buy extra turns within the game). Winners take home cash to help pay off their student loan or mortgage. Sign up with code TT625973 to get one free coin.
InCrowd: medical surveys by text message. Each survey nets you a few dollars. They're quick and easy. Join here.
Medical surveys: Reckner, MD for Lives, Medical Advisory Board (there are many more). These are typically specialty-specific and can pay from a few dollars to several hundred dollars, depending on the survey and specialty. Some require you to be board-certified in your specialty.
Saving more: LongGame is a smartphone app that turns saving into a game. You set it to pull money out of your checking account weekly (any amount you like) and earn coins that allow you to play games within the app and earn money! Sign up with code TT9WXO7
Ride sharing: we don't recommend this for residents. You're already tired. You likely won't have time to drive enough to earn the sign-up bonuses. And the take-home pay is typically little better than minimum wage.
Moonlighting: picking up extra shifts is how generations of former residents made ends meet. There are still opportunities for this if you're out on a research year, but most programs have strict rules prohibiting moonlighting by residents.
We will continue to update this as we find valuable opportunities.
